ABOUT :

Valentina is a true warrior. She comes from a home where she suffered unspeakable abuse. Her case is one of the most disturbing ones we have come across in our time in rescue. On top of the abuse humans physically inflicted on her, she was also used for breeding. Her mistreatment has left her with lifelong physical damage, but despite this her spirit is strong and she has managed to remain a happy, loving and resilient dog.

Valentina is a relaxed and low energy girl. In the day, she loves lounging around and taking naps in her fluffy bed. At first, she wanted to follow her foster mom around the house, but with time she realized that hanging out on her own is totally fine too - especially if it’s sunny and there’s a nice warm sun spot for her to sit in. She loves her toys, and is quite happy to play by herself with them. She also enjoys her crate, she will sometimes choose to go and hang out in there during the day when she needs a quiet moment alone. She loves people of all kinds, and is not stingy with her cuddles. Being pet and snuggling are some of her favourite activities! She can go for short walks, but she is slow and she tires easily.

Medically, Valentina is healthy and stable overall. Due to her abuse, she has symptoms of urinary incontinence. She knows when she needs to urinate, and she can squat in position and do so on purpose at times, but she cannot completely control her urine and will leak when she gets up or during her sleep. She tolerates wearing a diaper well, although given her shape sometimes they are a little difficult to keep in place. She has some spondylosis in her spine, which makes her walk drag her hind feet more than normal. She can get around, and she does so comfortably, but she is more slow and she cannot do stairs or jump. Her future home will need to have very limited stairs, and should stairs be present they will need to be secured so that she does not fall down them.

WORDS FROM HER FOSTER:

Valentina is a joy. All she wants is love. If you like to snuggle, this is the dog for you. You would never know that she has had a rough start to life. She is just the sweetest girl.
