ADOPTION PROCESS

If you are interested in adopting, please read the information below and fill out an application. Be sure to visit our dogs available for adoption here!

Adopting a dog is a big commitment and responsibility. It will require a lot of your time and patience.

Once we rescue dogs, generally they will go straight into a foster home to decompress and are shown what proper care and love feels like. Once they start being comfortable in their foster homes, their true personality starts to come out. This is when we start having a pretty good idea in what kind of home environment and adopters would be best for the dog.

Once you adopt your dog, it’s very important to know that there will be an adjustment period. The dog will need time to adjust to you, your home and new surroundings. This will not happen overnight and will require a lot of patience from you and your family. The dog will need some time to trust you, respect you, and feel supported by you. Remember to go slow with new introductions to new people, new animals and new places. This will be a big help to you and your dog to have a healthy and successful relationship together.

THE RAD APPLICATION PROCESS INVOLVES MULTIPLE STEPS, THEY ARE AS FOLLOWS:

  • Fill out the Adoption Application

  • Interview with one of our RAD adoption team member. We require all adults living in the home to be on the call.

  • Meet and greet with the dog and foster. Please note we require all family members and dog(s) and/or cat(s) if applicable living in your home to be present for this meeting.

  • If the prior meeting has gone well, we will have a RAD adoption team member go and do a home check at your residence.

  • Once you are approved to adopt you will require to sign a “foster to adopt agreement” within 48 hrs.

WHY FOSTER-TO-ADOPT YOU MAY WONDER?

RAD requires all of our dogs being adopted out to have a two week “trial period” prior to finalizing the adoption. This is to ensure that everyone is happy and it is the right match. We want to set up our dogs and adopters for success!
