ABOUT :

Meet Susie! This happy, goofy girl is ready to leave her past behind and start the fun, love filled life she has always deserved. Susie came from a situation of neglect, where she lived in a tiny home with over 60 other dogs, without proper care or socialization, and had already experienced more than most dogs her age ever should. Despite everything, including raising a litter and recovering from having a pellet removed from her leg, Susie has bounced forward with an open heart and a growing love for life.

Since entering foster care, Susie has been discovering just how great people can be, and she is all in. She loves hanging out with her humans, whether that means cuddling up, being silly, or playfully pawing at you with her long legs like a cat. Her personality is full of charm and goofiness, and she is guaranteed to make you smile daily. She is still learning how to “dog,” so toys are a work in progress and her play style can be adorably awkward, but she is trying more every day. One thing she has mastered is chewing and lick mats, and she will happily keep herself busy with both.

Susie absolutely adores other dogs and truly comes alive when she has a canine friend to play with. She especially loves roughhousing with her foster sister Fig, who is much bigger than her, and she keeps up like a champ. She is very food motivated, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience, and she is eager to learn with a little patience and encouragement.

In the home, Susie is well behaved and settles nicely when left alone. She is curious and clever though, so food left unattended might mysteriously disappear. She is comfortable in her crate and sleeps well, but will let you know in the morning that she is ready to start the day and be with you once she hears you starting to get up.

Susie is still building confidence in the big wide world. She now accepts wearing a collar and harness, but walks and outdoor adventures are still overwhelming and will take time, patience, and gentle exposure. She also finds handling a bit tricky and will wiggle and squirm like crazy when being held or groomed, not out of fear or aggression, but because she is still learning to feel safe in those moments.

Susie is a joyful, loving, and wonderfully silly dog who is just beginning to blossom. With a patient and kind family by her side, she is going to grow into an amazing companion who brings laughter, love, and a whole lot of personality into your life.
