ABOUT :
Leila was transferred to RAD by one of our partner shelters in the Montreal region, because she had some serious medical issues that required attention. Leila had previously lived in a situation where she had not received the medical care she required. She had been straining to urinate and urinating blood for quite some time. Leila had an enormous 4cm bladder stone that was causing her some serious pain. Leila has since fully recovered from her surgery where this stone was removed, she was sterilized and had a mammary mass removed. She has one last procedure to go in a few weeks, a dentistry, before she will be 100% back to normal!
Leila is one of the sweetest, calmest and gentlest dogs we have ever had. She can be shy at first, and needs some time to know that she is safe, but once she does she is very cuddly and loving. She always wants to spend quality time with her people. She truly comes alive outside on her walks, where she acts like a dog half her age! She can walk for an hour at a time, calmly sniffing around and exploring. She happily greets people on her walks, and is always respectful to the other canine companions she meets. In the home, she is calm and quiet, and spends her time napping. She loves her crate and feels safe in it, and can spend the day home with ease when she is inside of her safe space. She is mostly house broken, however does need some help using the pee pad 100% of the time, as she is still getting used to life with a “normal” bladder again!
The perfect home for Leila would be one in a calmer area, with a family who live a quiet life. Sudden sounds or movements can make Leila nervous, so the busy city life or a life with young active children would not make her happy. Leila can live in an apartment, condo or home, and can live with dogs or cats.
WORDS FROM HER FOSTER:
Leila is the gentle soul you’ve been waiting for, a quiet spirit with a heart full of love. When she first arrived, she was a little hesitant, unsure of the world around her. But as the days passed, she began to trust, blossoming into a calm, affectionate companion who fills every room with warmth.
Her joy is in the simple things—a long walk, a loving glance, a quiet moment by your side. With her soft eyes and soothing presence, Leila brings peace wherever she goes. She’s kind to other dogs, calm with every age and size, and her personality is the perfect balance of curiosity and tranquility.
Though she may be a little shy at first, Leila is full of love to give once she feels safe. She’s the quiet listener who waits patiently for your affection, and when she gives it back, you’ll feel like the luckiest person in the world.
Leila deserves a home where she can continue to thrive, where she’s showered with love, given daily walks, and treated with the tenderness she’s shown to others. If you’re looking for a gentle companion to share your life, Leila is ready to become your heart’s most faithful friend.
