ABOUT :
Jupiter comes from a backyard breeder. We were contacted to take all his dogs as he no longer wanted to breed. He had sold all the puppies on kijiji and was trying to sell Jupiter along with the others as well on kijiji to make more money but we thankfully were able to talk him out of it because these dogs needed medical care, socialization and we wanted to be sure they wouldn’t be used anymore for breeding.
Jupiter is a timid dog that needs help to build his self confidence. He’s extremely sweet but wary of humans. Once he trusts you he is very affectionate and loves to be pet and get scratches. He is wary of strangers. This kind of behaviour is normal for dogs that were used for breeding all their lives and never seen anything in their lives. He needs a human(s) to have patience and work with him on his fears.
He loves to be near his person and enjoys going on walks. He doesn’t like to be petted on the head but enjoys being petted under the chin.
His ideal home would be in a quiet neighbourhood and household as noises do scare him. He also has some separation anxiety. He would do great with a homebody who’s home a lot or a retired individual. When he’s left alone he is restless and does barks, this is something to consider if you live in a condo or apartment.
Like mentioned earlier, life outside of breeding is very new to him. It takes time and patience to have him believe in himself. He’s already made progress in the 3 weeks with his foster parent. He’s a very sweet dog that needs guidance.
Words from his foster:
Jupiter is a sweet, affectionate little guy who loves to stay close. Jupiter requires some patience and to be shown the world (in small doses!).
