Meet Jerry! Last summer, Jerry and his brother Ben found themselves in an overcrowded Los Angeles shelter, where they were both slated for euthanasia simply because they were shy and needed more time and patience than the shelter could give them. They were given a second chance and both made the trip to Canada in July in hopes of finding their families. Since arriving, he has made huge strides in his confidence and comfort with people and home life. Jerry was adopted but was later returned through no fault of his own, and he is now looking again for the right match. He is currently back with a familiar foster family where he has settled in well and is continuing to thrive.

Jerry is often described as a gentle giant. He is a big, affectionate dog who enjoys being close to his people and happily leans in for pets and snuggles. He can be a little clumsy and unaware of his size, which adds to his charm. Jerry enjoys spending time outside where he can wander around, take in the sights and smells, and relax in the fresh air. He has playful moments, especially with other dogs, but he also loves to lounge and nap after some activity. With regular outdoor time and a walk, he settles nicely in the house and becomes calm and relaxed.

He has been friendly and curious when meeting new people, including children, and tends to approach for attention once he feels comfortable. Jerry has also done well with another dog in his foster home and enjoys having a canine companion around. He likes to play but is also able to relax nearby while the other dog does their own thing. On leash he walks very nicely and doesn’t pull, and he is comfortable resting in his crate overnight or for short periods during the day.

Jerry would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard where he can spend time outdoors, as that’s one of his favourite ways to relax and explore. A home with minimal stairs would be ideal since stairs are still something he is unsure about. Another friendly dog could be a great match for him, both for companionship and to help him continue building confidence. Jerry is looking for a family that will give him time to settle in and continue learning, and in return he’ll be a sweet, loyal companion who enjoys both outdoor time and relaxing at home.

Jerry is a big sweet boy. He loves being outdoors, taking in the sights and the smells of the world around him. He also likes big naps and snuggles. He's playful, likes meeting new people and always wants to know what you're making for dinner! Jerry is eager to learn new things and is very food motivated.
