ABOUT :

Meet Jack Jack!

Jack Jack is one of the 21 dogs RAD recently rescued from Los Angeles. At only 3 years old, Jack Jack was up for euthanasia at the shelter because they were out of space, and he was out of time. Thankfully, we were able to get him out in time, and get him to safety in Canada!

Jack Jack is the sweetest boy. He is so loving. At the shelter, he was known to lean into volunteers for pets, and even “give hugs” in his own way. With his foster, he did the same. There’s nothing he loves more than snuggling - except maybe chewing his kong. In the home, he is happy to chill out for a while, but then he is ready to play. He is a smart boy! He excels at puzzle feeders and brain games, and would do great learning new tricks. He loves to chase sticks or balls, so having a space to play fetch with him would be a big plus in his books! He can jump up to greet you when he is excited, and still has some puppy energy despite his 3 years of age.

With his background, Jack Jack naturally still needs some help working on some behaviours. He can be nervous with some new movements or sounds, and he doesn’t appreciate everyone he sees while out on walks. He does not like being surprised by people on walks, so his family will need to be attentive to their surroundings, at least while Jack Jack is settling in.  He will need some time to decompress in his new home, and to truly settle in, before he starts meeting your friends and family. When Jack Jack is bored, he likes to chew, so providing him with appropriate chew options is important - he may destroy stuffies or his fluffy bed if given the chance, so will need to be watched! Some types of stairs freak him out a little, especially if they have grated openings, and he may need help going up and down these types of stairs - however regular stairs don’t seem to be an issue. Jack Jack is crate trained, and sleeps well through the night in his crate. He is housebroken. On walks, he is not a puller (unless there’s a squirell!), and he likes to stay near his person.

Jack Jack loves other dogs, and really wants to play with them. He is curious and playful, and respectful of the other dogs signals. A playful and well balanced canine companion would be great for him! He has been in a foster home with cats, but he would do better in a home without them. He gets over excited by the cats movements, and wants to chase them.

His ideal home would be one in a more calm area, with some space for him to run around and play, with a family who is ready to keep working with him to help him become the absolute best dog he can be!
