ABOUT :
Itachi had been facing euthanasia due to overcrowing in a shelter abroad, and thought his magical day had come when he was finally adopted before it was too late. This should have been his chance at a new life. Instead, he ended up in a bad situation. When we met him and his friends, we could tell right away there was something special about Itachi. We advocated hard to get him out, and thankfully succeeded. Itachi is now safe with us and settling into a foster home.
He has only been there a short time, but he’s already doing really well. He slept through the nights in his crate, is adjusting nicely to the routine and has been showing everyone what a sweet and affectionate dog he is.
Itachi loves to play fetch, enjoys being around people and is a bit of a flirt when he wants some extra attention. He’s playful, friendly and very happy to soak up affection.
He is good with other dogs and can play with them just fine. He also doesn’t hesitate to communicate when he needs space and can resource guard around other dogs. This will need to be managed, and once he has had time to decompress and fully adjust, his future family should be prepared to work on it through training. He can absolutely have dog friends and enjoy playing with them, he just needs appropriate management around resources.
There is still more for us to learn as Itachi settles in, but so far he has been a wonderful, sweet dog who is adjusting to foster life incredibly well. After everything that brought him here, we’re happy he finally has the chance to find the right home.
