ROCKET

WORDS FROM ROCKET’S NEW ADOPTERS: My girlfriend and I were looking to adopt a dog but we were having trouble finding available dogs with rescues. We found RAD through Lauren, a colleague of mine who is associated with RAD. We submitted our application right away but we didn't hear back for a while.

We assumed that we didn't get chosen but after some time, we were contacted and were told that Penny was still available. This was extra special to me because my childhood family dog was named Penny, who was also a shephard/lab mix! Of course, while we love the name Penny, we decided to change her name to Rocket.

We went to go pick up Rocket and we fell in love with her instantly. She was great in the car ride home but we knew the next step was going to be the true test - introducing her to our grumpy orange cat named Pippin.

The integration actually went very smoothly. We kept them separate for a while and continued to switch their blankets, so they could get used to each other's smell. We eventually introduced them and now they're the best of friends (kinda). Rocket loves to chase Pippin around the house and he'll give her a couple of whacks when he's had enough. We often catch them hanging out together and even exchanging a few kisses.

Rocket is an extremely cuddly girl which was exactly what we were looking for, as our cat is a bit of an introvert. She is also a bit of a couch potato...sometimes it's even hard to convince her to go for a walk! After a good walk, she will always curl up on the couch and sleep for hours.

She is exactly what we had hoped for in a dog and we are looking forward to many more adventures with our little girl!
