KODA

WORDS FROM KODA’S NEW ADOPTERS: We lost our family dog about 4 years ago and since then, my children had been persistent in wanting another dog in our lives, but I just didn’t feel ready. My life at home was starting to get a little bit easier, after many years of raising my 4 kids, working with children who have special needs and helping my siblings to care for our ageing parents. When the pandemic hit, life became sad and more simple all at the same time. While we spent more time together at home as a family, I knew that we needed something special in our lives again during this bizarre and surreal time that the world was in...the time had come to consider another dog.

One of my conditions was that the dog would have to be a rescue but that turned out to be easier said than done. As it turned out, all other adoption agencies were dried up, many of them never even returned my phone calls and whenever I received an email response, it was of a generic sort. I felt discouraged. One of my daughters was determined to keep searching and that is when she learned about RAD. Kim contacted me right away and was kind and considerate right off the bat. She put me in touch with Sharron’s foster mommy, another lovely lady named Sylvia. She agreed to bring Sharron to our home, to meet the whole family. Of course, we fell instantly in love and wanted her for our own. After a few more discussions with Kim, we became the very proud family of our new pup. Unfortunately, Sharron didn’t look like a Sharron to us so she quickly became our little Koda (meaning little bear.)

Are there ever adequate words to describe the kind of love and joy a dog brings into our lives? Koda makes us smile, she makes us laugh, she melts our hearts and she fills our home with amazing energy. We are very grateful that the stars aligned and the universe (and RAD) delivered this beautiful being to us.

Thank you so much for allowing us to be a member of the RAD family.
