ABOUT :

Meet Caramel! This young, vibrant girl is full of life, personality, and potential just waiting for the right person to bring it all together. At only 1.5 yrs old, Caramel has already beaten the odds. She was at risk of euthanasia at a shelter in Los Angeles due to overcrowding before she even had the chance to celebrate her first birthday. Thankfully, she made her way here last summer, and while her journey hasn’t been easy, she continues to show just how much she has to give.

Caramel is a big personality in a young body. She is incredibly energetic, smart, and full of enthusiasm for everything around her. She thrives in an environment with structure and guidance, and when she has that, she truly shines. She loves people, including kids, and wants to be involved in everything you are doing. That said, she can be rambunctious and doesn’t always realize her size. We will not be placing her in a home with kids for now, as she is still mouthy when she plays so she will need continued help learning appropriate ways to interact.

She enjoys other dogs and plays well with them, but on leash she can become overly excited and frustrated when she can’t immediately go say hello. This is something she will need continued support and training with. Caramel is very intelligent and loves interactive toys and mental challenges, quickly figuring things out and always looking for her next activity.

At home, she is crate trained and does very well overnight, settling nicely in her space. She does struggle with separation and prefers to be close to her people, so building her confidence being alone will be important. After spending time in different environments, she is still working on her house manners and can be quite curious, which includes counter surfing, grabbing things, or testing boundaries if given the opportunity. She is not being “bad,” she is simply a young, driven dog who needs consistency and clear expectations.

Caramel can be a lot of dog, especially when she becomes frustrated or overstimulated, and in those moments she can be challenging to handle. She needs an experienced, patient family who understands high energy dogs and is committed to continuing her training and giving her the structure she depends on. With the right guidance, she has already shown that she is capable of learning, adapting, and improving.

Caramel is not for everyone, but for the right person, she is going to be an incredibly rewarding companion. She is full of love, life, and potential, and she deserves a home that will see her for who she is and help her become the amazing dog she is meant to be.

We are currently looking for a foster home for Caramel so she can continue making positive progress with her behaviour before moving into a permanent adoptive home. We are also open to a foster to adopt situation for the right family. Our team is committed to supporting both her foster and future family with guidance and advice to help set her up for success.
